Also, thank you everyone for your calls and emails. I have not felt too much like talking right now, but I promise to call back soon. Right now I am trying to stay in bed without going crazy... which is hard. I have another doctors appointment tomorrow morning that I am pretty nervous about. I have had quite a bit of bleeding going on today so I am nervous about what she will say I need to do. I hope full bedrest is not the answer!! I might lose my mind!

Some scary stuff going on

Well I knew from the beginning that this pregnancy was not going to be an easy one!!!! I just had no idea what was in store for us!

On Sunday I was sitting at the dining room table with John's mom who is in town for John's winging that happened on Friday! (congrats honey, I am so proud of you!)

I felt a huge gush from down below and I ran to the bathroom. It literally felt like my "water" was breaking. Instead I found a sea of red blood everywhere full of clots. I stayed surprisingly calm and called for John to come into the bathroom. He asked what was wrong and I calmly told him I was having a miscarriage, and that I needed him to get me some clean clothes and take me straight to the ER.

His mom came into the bathroom with me and prayed, and helped me get to my feet. And off we went to the hospital. It was such a long car ride!! I kept telling John I did not understand why this was happening now, and that normally with a miscarriage you would feel severe cramping. He told me everything was going to be ok. He too stayed surprisingly calm!!

We got to the ER and thankfully we were the only ones there. We did not have to wait in line at all, they took me directly to a room. The first thing they did was listen for the baby's heartbeat which she heard immediately (thank God). It was a strong 159ish beats per minute. Then they loaded me up with fluids and anti nausea medication because I thought I was going to throw up!

The ER doctor gave me a pelvic exam but did not find anything. He then sent me to have my 4th ultrasound of this pregnancy done. The tech was really nice and let me see the baby right away! He/she is so cute. He/she was moving all around inside of me doing jumps and kicks. SO WEIRD! The heartbeat was a strong 160 per minute and the tech could not see any apparent problems.

A little while later they gave me a Rhogan shot. This is because I have type O- blood and my blood can attack the baby's blood if they come into contact with each other.

Then they sent me on my way.

On Monday morning I went to see my regular doctor. She ordered me to have my 5Th ultrasound to check and see how the baby is doing, and again he/she is fine. They did however find a problem.

I have something called Placenta Previa (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/placenta-previa/DS00588). Basically my placenta has attached in the wrong spot in my uterus and this can cause severe bleeding. Also, mine is currently hemorrhaging and pieces are basically breaking off of it causing the gush of blood.

My doctor put my on bed rest and told me to come back on Thursday.

Well Monday afternoon I took and nap. When I woke up I was bleeding pretty bad, yet again! I called my doctor and she sent me to the ER. After a ton of waiting they gave me fluids, anti nausea medication, pain meds (I was cramping pretty bad), and sent me on my way. Not much they can truly do for me at this point (except pray of course).

So that is where we are today. I am on bed rest, sleeping most of the time, trying to just take it easy. I have another appointment on Thursday with my doctor who hopefully will be able to provide me with some additional answers.

Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers during this difficult time. We are feeling confident that everything will be ok, it just might be a difficult road getting there!!!

Tomorrow will be 12 weeks

I am told that magically at 12/13 weeks, I will start feeling better and I will begin to LOVE being pregnant. I am soooooooooo looking forward to when God decides to switch on that Easy Button! I am trying to focus on the positive and all of the amazing things happening in my body and with my baby. It is sometimes just hard to do that with my body leaning over a toilet! The good news is that last week when I went to the doctor, I had gained a pound. WOO-HOO! I never thought I would be so excited to gain weight! I am at least starting to put some of the pounds that I have lost back on. Pregnancy is not the time to lose weight at all.



Tomorrow our baby (not our fetus as the descriptions below always say) will officially be 12 weeks along. In some ways the time is just flying by!!!!

A random fact: each week our baby is compared to a piece of fruit. Then I spend that whole week wishing I could have a raspberry or perhaps a plum to eat. But that just seems weird. So I have never actually eaten the fruit that my baby is compared to. But I sure do crave it! :)

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

A bit late on this post...

But last monday i was officially 11 weeks pregnant. It was another rough week filled with throwing up, a weekly doctors appointment, and tons of sleep. It has been a busy week with work and John getting his WINGS! He is officially a US Air Force Pilot! :) His parents and his two new brothers (recently adopted from Russia) came to spend the week with us to celebrate. His oldest brother Steve came down as a surprise Thursday night for the event. It has been a great week, I am just absolutely exhausted.

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future

10 weeks!!!!

Well I am now officially 10 weeks pregnant! Which also means I have been really sick for a month now!!! I just can not shake this sickness! I have lost 14lbs, and now i am fluctuating about 4 pounds back and forth.

Last weekend we went to San Antonio for the day. My friend Sarah F. was nice enough to let me borrow at ton of her maternity clothes! I am so excited to do not have to buy any for myself! My step mom and sister have also gotten me a ton of maternity things as well! I seriously think i am set! Right now I only have to wear the maternity pants, shirts these days are long enough to cover me up just fine. I will take some belly pictures later this week!!

My next appointment is Monday the 18th. Then Johns parents come for a week to celebrate Johns graduation! We are so excited!!!! Then only a few days after they leave, we are going to pack up the dogs and drive cross country to PA for about a month. I just hope I can eat well by that point so that i can truly enjoy my Philadelphia experience!! :)

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Rough Week

As most of you know, I had a very rough week in Colorado. I spent 2 days in the ER for dehydration among other things. They did an ultrasound at the ER and the baby was fine. Upon my return to Texas, my doctor here did an ultrasound as well. Here are the photos of Baby Salotti!

I am so thankful that John was able to go with me to this ultrasound so he got to see the baby. I am pretty sure he has fallen in love! :)

Week 9

Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like... well... a baby!
