Owen is doing GREAT! As you can see, he now sits up completely unassisted. He also can twirl around on his belly to get where he wants to go quite well.

Johns mom just left after being with us for 9 days. It was a great visit. Owen just loves all of the extra attention.

Small prayer request- Owen MAY have a small developmental delay on his right side. My aunt who is an Occupational Therapist pointed it out to us (if you remember, the neurologist also noticed he did not open up his right hand all the way). So last weekend we went to VA for a quick 24 hour trip so my aunt could evaluate him. She said he might have a very slight issue and gave us some things to work on. We also went to visit the pediatrician to have her check it out and she referred us out to Early Intervention. They are coming next week for an in home visit.

Anyways, the issue is very slight, my aunt is the only one who noticed it- and that is because she has a therapists eye. But keep us in your prayers.

At 7 months Owen:

-weighs 17.5lbs

- sits unassisted

- has the cutest sly smile

- gives GREAT hugs

- has gotten into a pretty bad sleep habit of waking up several times a night. We are working on this!

- said his first real word. Daddy :)

- is absolutely in love with Piper dog. When she walks into the room he gets so excited. Piper is a great sport and even lets Owen ride on her back. She is turning into a great dog!

Owen we love you so much. You bring a level of Joy into our lives that we never knew.

Yesterday we had a fun play-date with Maria and her daughter Laura. We met them in Little Rock and now we all live here in North Carolina. Laura is 1 week younger than Owen. They had a great time playing, but we completely forgot to take any photos!

Owen is now 28 weeks old. The time has flown by!

Head Update

Yesterday John, Owen, and I went to the University of North Carolina for Owens neurology appointment. I was really thankful John could come along because MAN that place is big!

We met with the neurologist who checked out all of Owens gross motor skills. She said he was perfect! He is right on track for all of his milestones and he is really close to sitting. She then checked his fine motor skills and only had one little concern. He was not opening up his right hand all the way to grab at stuff. She said it could be random that he was not doing it right then, or it could be the sign of something else so she sent him to have a CT scan done.

John and I have never been prouder of our little boy! During the scan he had to be literally strapped down on a board and he could not move. We were told that most babies SCREAM and some even need to be sedated. Our little Owen just stayed there like a little angel. I was on one side of him and John was on the other. He just moved his eyes looking back and forth to the both of us, but never cried. He was such a good boy!

This morning the neurologist called and said Owens scans came out absolutely perfect. His brain has developed perfectly and the flat head has not had any impact on his development. She just wants to see us back in 3 months.

Praise the Lord for such a great visit. We knew he was just perfect, and it is wonderful to have someone from a medical standpoint tell us the same! :)

One of those weeks

We are just having one of those weeks around here. On Saturday morning Owen and I both woke up pretty sick with a cough/cold/and general feeling of blah! Because he is so young there is not much he can take for it, and because i nurse him, there is not much I can take!

So yesterday we went to the doctor to see if he could help. OH BOY! So apparently there have been 8 cases of swine flu in Johns squadron, so as soon as they found out i was attached to that group they freaked out. I had a mask thrown on my so fast, i had to stay in one room, they tested me for the swine flu, and i was made to feel like i have some horrible terrible disease. Results in 24-48 hours. I am sure it is not swine flu, i do not feel THAT bad, I just have a bad cold and I can not breathe!

Then last night John and I realized our carpet had a weird smell to it. Let me back up and tell you why. So a couple of weeks ago we did a load of laundry and the washing machine leaked some water out of it. A good amount of water actually. So we called an appliance repair man to come diagnose the problem. He said that the brake on something was broken, so water was just sloshing out. He said we could use it just not on the fullest setting. Ok. So we did. And it leaked. BAD! Water EVERYWHERE.

Side note: I demanded that our new house have a laundry room on the 2nd floor because it would be more convenient.

So yeah, water ALL OVER my 2nd floor, and leaking into my garage from above. NOT GOOD!

The carpet was soaked. So we immediately started sucking up the water with the shop vac and putting a fan on it to hopefully dry out.

Well last night it started smelling a little weird, and john noticed the baseboards were warping a little bit due to the water. TERRIBLE!

So today I have a carpet cleaner man coming by to hopefully suck up all the extra water and professionally clean the carpets to get rid of any and all smell. Cross your fingers.

Did I mention I feel like crud?! So does Owen. Poor thing.

We tried playing with a toy we had not played with before, stacking rings. It worked for a little while:

Then the meltdown began. Please notice the poor runny nose:

So we have decided to do some swinging instead. It is absolutely beautiful here so we have the windows opened and there is a great breeze.

Hopefully the nice cool air will help us all to feel better! :)
